About Leslie Block Prip

Leslie

Personal adornment is my passion, my obsession for over 40 years, now. Childhood walks on Maine beaches were treasure hunts for beach pebbles, glass and shells which found their way into my earliest jewelry creations. My new collection showcases these gifts from the sea. Precious cut stones are used as accents on my beach rock collections and touches of gold can be found throughout. Great attention is paid to detail and I am particularly proud of the assorted “bail options” offered on many of my pendants. All of my jewelry is handmade in silver and gold at my Rhode Island studio. This collection combines old elements with new, natural elements with cleanly constructed and finished metal parts. The style is elegantly organic, and a bit on the eclectic side.

Antique buttons are another obsession, and I have been collecting these stunning little objects for years with the intention of someday sharing them with you. Most were made around the turn of the Century. They were created, many by hand, during the height of the industrial revolution. This collection will be constantly evolving with new work added on a regular basis.

Back in the 80s and 90s my work could be found in major department stores branded as Leslie Block, and those pieces are now very collectible. Today, Leslie Block Prip, LLC is a family business. My husband, Peter, is a fifth generation metalsmith and faculty member at the Rhode Island School of Design. My daughter, Lilly, has spent the past three years working with her father in the studio. Both have greatly contributed in the creation of this collection.

I welcome all to accompany me on this new adventure and look forward to getting to know as many of you as I can.
